No Make-up May

So this is my face.  If you would like to know how I feel about it on my worst days, take a look at 25 is the Ugliest Age.  You might gather that I  generally feel like make-up has very little power to improve my appearance.  But I still like it- I think it’s fun to wear.  I don’t wear it every day, or even most days, but there are some times when I feel insecure without it: to work, on dates, and to church.  For those of you wondering about that last one, you should know that LDS single’s wards are nigh unto a fashion show.

Now allow me to digress for a moment.

I saw the movie Seven Pounds for the first time a few days ago, starring Will Smith and the Beautiful Rosario Dawson.

Isn’t she gorgeous?  What interested me about the film is that she is shown wearing very little make up.  Now, I know it’s the movies, so she must have been wearing some, but it was totally undetectable to me. And she STILL looked gorgeous.

This got me thinking…what if I didn’t wear any make-up?  And then alliteration got the best of me (it always does) and I came up with No Make-up May!

What is No Make-up May?  No Make-up May is where you (I) don’t wear any make-up for the entire month of May.  No mascara, no concealer  no tinted lip gloss, no brow pencil (this will be the hardest for me- look at my faint little brows!), no nothing…for the entire month of May.

Why Am I Doing This? As an experiment- I want to see if it changes how I feel about myself or how others see me.  And of course, it will give me something to blog about.

Is Anybody Else Doing It? Well I don’t know…are you?  I want company!  Feel free to amend it in any way you like!

Wish me luck…lots of updates to follow.
